Raise Them Up Lord! War Room Prayer Journey

raise upDAY 9 – February 18th – Raise Them Up Lord! -An Army of Intercessors-
Scriptures: Ephesians 6:10–18; Luke 18:1

Miss Clara cried out in her powerful prayer, “Lord, we need an army of believers who will stand on Your Word above all else. Lord, call us to battle! Raise them up, Lord! Raise them up!”

Before an army can be shipped into battle, they have to go through boot camp or some sort of training. God needs to train us up in order to raise us up, as we volunteer to be soldiers in His army.Raise them up, Lord!

The season of Lent should be a time of intense discipline and devotion. Obviously the word discipline is close to the word disciple. We are disciples or followers of Christ. We become like Christ through disciplines such as Bible Study, prayer, and ministry. Oh by the way , do you have your journal ,Bible, and a listening ear on this journey?

Prepare for battle.

Bible study and prayer are essential to the life of every Christian. Intentionally read the Gospels and relive Christ’s life on earth as a human being. Listen to His words. Fill your mind and soul with His stories and His truths. Spend more time in prayer. Learn to pray on your knees or prostrate on the floor. Confess your sins. Ask God to reveal to you areas of your life that need His transformation. Commit 40 days to deeper Bible study and longer times of prayer. Study God’s Word.

word00-end-time-bible-prophecy-word-of-god-is-alive

Worship music is a strong motivator, but always remember your “sword”—the Word of God. There may be times we are tempted to “lean on our own understanding,” instead of standing on the Word of God.
Human experiences and education are good, but God’s Word is best. God uses our education and experience to help us grow as the branches abiding in Him, the Vine. His Word is the root that keeps us steadfast and the sap that feeds and strengthens us. We must look at our experiences and education through the lens of God’s Word; it is our “Christian worldview.”*

Write down a few things that you believe that determine the way you behave; find them in Scripture and write down each verse that is the foundation of this belief you stand on above all else. If you cannot substantiate your belief with Scripture then you need to replace it with truth. Be careful, Satan is sneaky. He likes to twist and blur the Word to make it sound like something else that appeals to our flesh.

pray-the-word

Write down the Scriptures that give you clear wisdom about God’s will and ways and do not waver! Then open your ears to hear Him calling you to battle; be prepared and armor up, He is raising up an army and you have just been recruited (Eph. 6:10–18).* (War Room excerpt comes from Kathy Branzell allowed permission only)

Day 8 War Room Prayer Strategy

War-Room-Prayer-Wall-2

DAY 8 – February 17th – War Room Prayer Strategy
Scriptures: 1 Thessalonians 5:17; Proverbs 20:18

Elizabeth begins reading the papers taped to Clara’s closet and asks Clara, “You wrote prayers for every area of your life?”

Clara replies, “Yes! A prayer strategy!”

Yes , a war room prayer strategy. This is Day 8 of participating in our 40 Day Prayer Journey, “ War Room Journey: Praying ,Listening to the Lord And Living the Life”. 1 Tim 2: 1-4; Philippians 4:6-7; Deut. 30:20; Galatians 2:2l.”.Step into this forty (40) day prayer journey of repenting and a a season for personal and corporate spiritual renewal during this Lenten time. It is a time for intense study of God’s Word, for meditation, for prayer, and for self-examination.(1) However, its purpose in to make permanent transformation changes to be more like Christ.

Now we will go deeper into the power of prayer and war room prayer strategy based on the movie ”War Room” . Hopefully you saw the movie. If you haven’t please take the opportunity to do so.

In a recent interview, Alex Kendrick said, “We have plans for everything—careers, finances, health. But what about a strategy for prayer for our lives, our spouses, and our children?” The strategy begins by examining your circumstances right now, and visualizing how things should be—and could be. As you pray over these relationships and responsibilities, write down plans and procedures for getting from here to there.

This means producing a prayer strategy so that God can take you from where you are to where He wants you to be. Prayer clears the path to God’s best for your life: His best plans, best opportunities and blessings, His best path and provision for His glory, and His Kingdom purpose in your life.
After seeing War Room, perhaps you want to pinpoint a place of prayer, a “War Room,” in your home, and possibly even a secondary “War Room” in your church, school campus, and workplace. Begin to pray about this and write down your commitment to God to be more specific and strategic in prayer. Ask Him to show you where you can start your prayer closet/War Room.

war room images

It does not necessarily mean emptying your closet, but we all have a space that we can repurpose, even if it is shared space. The Spirit will lead you to pick a place to meet with God each day.
Sometimes we get to post our strategy and Scriptures on the wall, and sometimes we have to keep them secured in a notebook or box that we carry into prayer each day. The important thing is to commit and be consistent; let prayer grow and guide you.

Each day of this calendar will add an opportunity to post something new to grow and sow into your prayer strategy. The devil does not have a fighting chance if you let God do your fighting for you. Start today (Prov. 20:18).*(War Room excerpt comes from Kathy Branzell Kathy Branzell is the author of War Room: A Thirty-Day Boot Camp Response Devotion .)

Pray

• Give thanks that God will hear our cries of repentance.
• Ask God to show you a prayer strategy. Listen .
• Pray for your spouse.
• Pray for children and youth.
• Pray for the judges of the United States Supreme Court, and your state and local judges.

Get Rid of Distractions So You Can Listen

distractionseda9086d18adfc4c7c479dd181f643f5

DAY 7 – February 16th – Get Rid of Distractions So You Can Listen to God
Scriptures: Acts 9:10–16, 11:4–9; Jeremiah 33:3 and Psalm 27:8 (NLT).

Yesterday we discussed three ways to spend time with the Lord and to listen. Did you hear His voice? Get your journal, bible and have a listening ear and teachable spirit. Don’t allow the distractions of this world keep you from having an intimate time with the Lord. If you just joined the Prayer on this Day 7 the prior days are available.

…get rid of anything that will distract you from listening intently and intentionally. This type of listening comes only with deliberate, deep, honest, times of prayer where God has all of your attention. One of the main reasons we may experience difficulty in hearing God’s voice is because we are too wrapped up in listening to what everyone else has to say.*

John 10:10 warns us that Satan comes to steal, kill, and destroy. For those who choose to be “followers of Christ,” Satan delights to distract, discourage, and detain. He will do anything he can do to get you to tune out God’s voice. If He can get you to play instead of pray, or to work instead of embrace the Sabbath, he has just stolen the pleasure of God’s purposes from you. Thankfully, in John 10:11 Jesus assures us that He is the good Shepherd. He knows His sheep and His sheep know Him. Furthermore, His sheep know and follow His voice. Do not allow anything to distract you from hearing or recognizing Christ’s voice.*

Ask the Lord to show you times when you could separate yourself from all that is going on and truly listen for His voice. Make an appointment on your calendar or calendar app to follow through. Make it a priority!*

Do you have a quiet spot to get alone with God? Begin to think of a place you could claim for your own, a place where you can get away from distractions.*
*(Excerpt from Kathy Branzell from Listen Up God Still Speaks Today, 2014)

Pray:
• Repent of not forgiving those who have sinned against you and of walking in pride, superiority or opposition to others in the body of Christ.
• Pray that you will grow in the knowledge of God’s Word for every aspect of your life.
• For God to rise up men and women of integrity, faith and love to places of spiritual authority throughout the church and the city.
• Pray for persons who feel rejected. Pray that they will know that the Lord will never forsake them and that He loves them.
• Pray for our nation and its leaders that they may rule with honor and wisdom and that wickedness in the leaders will be hindered so that all may lead quiet and peaceable lives.

DAY 6 – Get Ready to Listen

listen to Godbible-god-quotes-264

strong>DAY 6 – February 15th – Get Ready to Listen
Scriptures: Psalms 16:7, 43:3; Isaiah 30:21

Thank you for joining the 40 Day War Room Prayer Journey. We started this Lenten season seeking the Lord for repentance for the first two days. When seeking the Lord we should want to commune with the Lord. Prayer is a two way conversation. Thus, we should seek and get ready to listen to the Lord and learn His voice. Day 3 to 7 we are talking about our prayer conversation with the Lord.

Don’t forget your journal, Bible, and to have a listening ear and teachable spirit.

So how can you begin to hear God speak to you? First, begin your prayer time by confessing any sin you know stands between you and God. Ask His forgiveness and allow Him to silence the voice of guilt and shame that discourages you from seeking His presence. *

Second, spend periods of your prayer time in complete silence, listening for God to respond to your praise, appreciation, questions, and pleas.*

Third, listen with a discerning heart and an open Bible. God will not contradict Himself; He will not lead you down a path of unrighteousness or turn His head for the sake of your earthly “happiness.” He will not give an approving nod to sin and He will not send you out on a journey alone.*
God also speaks so that He receives glory in the story of how He made the impossible, possible—how He provided in your need and how the blessings that follow obedience to His ways always exceed anything the world has to offer.*

*(Excerpt from Kathy Branzell from Listen Up God Still Speaks Today in Prayer Connect Magazine Issue 18, 2014)

ListenToGod_0< Pray:
• Pray for every member of the body of Christ to listen to the Lord and discover his/her purpose and place in the Kingdom and in the body of Christ.
• Pray for each member to walk faithfully in God’s gifting and calling to build up others.
• Pray for each member within the body to accept, honor, and work together purposefully and in harmony with various parts of the body at your church.
• Pray for those who have suffered calamity or crisis in their families. Pray that peace and unity bind affected families together in love.
• Pray for missionaries. Pray that God will provide favor, protection, resources and laborers.

Prayer Journey: God Speaks . Pay Attention!

Listening-for-Gods-Voice

DAY 5- February 14th – God Still Speaks Today. Pay Attention!
Scriptures: Genesis 21:14-19; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Romans 8:16

Glad you have joined the 40 Day War Room Prayer Journey. Did you bring your journal , bible and a listening ear? Happy Valentine’s Day. Celebrate the love of Jesus with the lonely, depressed, and broken hearted. Give them a hug, a card, a smile , an encouraging Word or a gift.

The Lord has spoken to you through the Word. While meditating He may have brought a thought to your mind to “Call Jane” and you wonder why. Perhaps you’ve heard Him; perhaps you haven’t noticed. Or maybe, uncertain that He wants to speak to you, you haven’t thought to ask Him. Yet God is engaging with us in a variety of ways. He’s longing for us to pay attention to His voice.

While there may be many ways that God speaks to us, the Word of God is the primary way God speaks today. Every whisper and every clear and bold word needs to align with Scripture.
This truth is certain: God still speaks to His people today. I hope you can stop and listen.

When Jesus said “my sheep listen to my voice” He was letting us know that we should constantly listen for the sound of His voice. He the Good Shepherd would always be there to guide us by speaking to us and we would be able to hear His voice and follow Him.
God has promised to guide us. The Word tells us to “in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:6). How does He guide us? Sometimes His voice says, “This is the way: walk in it” (Isaiah 30:21) Believers who know God, know that it is His voice and accept His guidance.

“God wants a personal relationship with us; a love relationship. The apostle John said, “Our fellowship is with the Father and with this Son, Jesus Christ” (1 John 1:3) God did not finish speaking to us when the scripture were completed. God is a living God the God of today wants to enjoy a loving relationship with you involving a two way conversation”. (paraphrased)Alvin Vandergriend.

DAY 4- Prayer Journey– God Still Speaks Today—Can You Hear?

listen ear10419560_10201528737980657_7684309083601357584_n

DAY 4- February 13th – God Still Speaks Today—Can You Hear?
Scriptures: Psalm 46:1; John 10:2–4, 27; Hebrews 3:15:

Greetings to you on this Day 4 of the War Room Prayer Journey. I hope you brought your journal, bible and a listening ear. I am glad you are here. More importantly the Lord is glad that you want to hear Him. We are leading up to what Miss Clara our War Room Boot Camp Leader, had to say about prayer in Day 8 but we needed to be ready for that boot camp by having repentant hearts and worshipful attitudes, and now training our ears and spirit to listen to and to hear from God.

From the very first words of Scripture, in the book of Genesis we learn God spoke to people to set his plans in motion. God spoke to Adam and Eve; He spoke to Noah throughout Genesis 6–9. He spoke to—and through—Abraham, Moses, the Prophets, and many others throughout the Old Testament. In the New Testament God came down and spoke to us in the flesh and we heard the voice of Jesus.( John 1:1, 14) Then God continued His conversation when he sent the gift of the Holy Spirit to live in us after Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection. The same God who spoke to Adam and Eve in the garden desires to speak to you in your quiet time, in your crisis time, in times of change, challenge and celebration. The key to hearing God’s voice is taking the time to listen to Him.

Again as I stated in Day 3, the question is not, “Will God speak to me?” The question is, “Are you taking the time to listen?”

God has a voice; and his sheep hear His voice.”Hearing His voice means that a thought, a word, an insight comes to us .If we have a real relationship with Jesus and are sensitive to the Spirit “we learn that it is the Spirit of revelation talking to us (Ephesians 1:17”, Remember what we hear will always line of with the Word of God.

Pray:
• Confess any sin that you know stands between you and God and my keep you from hearing the Lord.
• Ask the Lord to give you a tender heart that is sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit and the conviction of sin.
• Ask God for an “ear to hear” Rev 2:7 Ask Him to teach you how to listen better.
• Pray that the Word of God will be revered, studied, meditated upon by you in a greater consistent way and by those at your church.
• Pray that believers in your community will seek to listen to the Lord instead of talking all the time.
Exercise: Describe your communication with God. Is it a monologue or dialogue? How much time do you spend listening versus talking?
Hope you join with me for Day 5.

War Room Prayer Journey – Can You Hear God?

black mother and child prayingmages

DAY 3- February 12th – Can You Hear God?
Scriptures: Genesis. 3:8–9; 1 Samuel. 3:1; Amos 8:11–13

This is the third day of our 40 Day Prayer Journey, “War Room Journey: Praying, Listening to the Lord and Living the Life”. 1 Timothy 2:1-4; Philippians 4:6-7; Deuteronomy 30:20; Galatians 2:20, from February 10, 2016 through March 26, 2016. On the first day of this prayer journey I encouraged you to use a journal or notebook to write your reflections, what the Lord is speaking to you when you stop to listen, your prayers and/or prayer requests. In Day 2 we continued praying to God about our individual repentance and suggested ways you could fast during this Season of Lent.

Make entries in your journal each day as led by the Holy Spirit. Make sure you take time to listen to how God speaks to you as that is part of the journey focus. We know that God speaks us through the Word. Yet the same God who spoke with Adam and Eve in the garden desires to speak to [us in our] crisis time, in times of change, challenge, and celebration. The key to hearing God’s voice is taking the time to listen to Him.” The question is not, “Will God speak to me?” The question is, “Are you taking the time to listen?” Reflect on the fact that God wants to commune with you and actually longs to talk to you. Your Father longs to communicate. The God who defines Himself as “the Word” loves you. He tells you to “Come and I will show you great and many things thou does not know.” Jeremiah 33:3 Conversation is not something we have to coax Him into. It is His idea, and He thrives on it.

Pray:

• For Christ to bring people near enough to God to experience the Father’s loving delight in His Son for people to love and follow Jesus.
• Ask God to stir a continual heart of reverence, obedience, and repentance in you that you will listen to His voice.
• Ask the Lord to free people in your life from Satan’s trap and then lead them to repent.
• Pray for children of incarcerated parents.
• Pray for those incarcerated in prison.
• Ask God for an ear to hear (Rev. 2:7) Ask Him to teach you how to listen better.

Day 2 Prayer Journey :Repentance For A Renewed Relationship With God

repent conditionimages

repentance images

Yesterday ( See Day 1 Feb.10 and the opening letter blog post)I shared that repentance means to change your mind and to be determined not to do the sin again. It means to turn and walk the other way and that you are sorrowful about your sin to the point of grief. Ask God to open your eyes, ears and heart to feel real sadness and sorrow about your sin and to turn your heart and mind to repent. Thank Him for the gift of repentance.

“Now turn to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping and with mourning. So rend your heart, and not your garments; Return to the Lord your God, for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and of great kindness; And He relents from doing harm…”Joel 2:12-14 NKJV

Did you write your prayer of repentance yesterday? Did you take time to be honest before the Lord about your life , your relationship with God through Jesus Christ and your prayer life? Did you confess your sin and ask him to forgive you?

Ask Him to teach you to pray. Ask God to give you strength and discipline to increase your prayer life, to deepen your relationship and friendship with God to enable you to rise in the spiritual things of God. Sit still before the Lord and listen. Let the Lord know you are listening and you are sincerely seeking His face. Psalm 42: 1-2 .

Throughout Scripture spiritual leaders called God’s people to times of fasting and prayer when the need for transformation was recognized. Fasting demonstrates the desperation and sincerity of our hearts in approaching the Lord our God.

Seek the Lord to instruct you as to how and what He wants you to fast for this season in your life. (see Isaiah 58:6-14). Some possible suggestions are:
1. Juice only
2. Fresh fruits and vegetables only (a Daniel fast)
3. Fast one day per week for the 40 days
4. Fast one meal per day
5. Fast a particular food or activity as a token of your devotion and commitment.
Do not fast if you have medical conditions without discussing this with your doctor.

Pray that this time will be radically used by the Lord to bring life transformation to US all( you are not alone)-personally and corporately-throughout your church and your city.

DAY 2- February 11th – Repenting For A Renewed Relationship With God
Scriptures: Job 42:1-6; Isaiah 58:1-6 2 Chroincles 7:12-16; Hebrews 11:6

Repent: Of __________________________________________.
Meditate, pray, and write down areas for which you should repent.

Reflect on repentance, what you want to release in your life and on what steps you need to take to improve your prayer life and to deepen your relationship with God.

Pray:
• Pray that the message of repentance will penetrate your heart and the members of your church, your community and the world.
• Pray that leaders will walk in true humility and a deep reverence for the Lord.
• Pray for MEN – Pray that men will seek God and honor Him with an integrity that unites their lives in faithfulness, wisdom, and truth; that their vision of masculinity would be a Christ-like servant leadership in the family, church and world.
• Pray for God to strengthen your prayer life and deepen your relationship with Him.
• Pray for the President of the United States, President Obama and his family.
Pray what the Holy Spirt leads you to pray.

40 Day War Room Prayer Journey

family prayer prayer.jpg__700x460_q95

Dear family and friends,
Starting this Wednesday (Ash Wednesday), many Christians will begin preparing their hearts and minds for Resurrection Sunday better known as Easter through the season of Lent. I look forward to you and your family joining me, my friends , family and my church family in participating in our 40 Day Prayer Journey, “ War Room Journey: Praying, Listening to the Lord And Living the Life”. 1 Timothy 2:1-4; Philippians 4:6-7; Deuteronomy 30:20; Galatians 2:20, from February 10, 2016 through March 26, 2016.
Step into this forty (40) day prayer journey of repenting and praying toward the desires and promises of God to enable us to grow in our spiritual walk. Let each of us as individuals and as a corporate body grow in grace, in service and deed, in love for God and each other and into a lifestyle of individual and corporate prayer.
It is a time to repent, recall, refresh and renew our commitment to communing with Christ, talking to him but also listening to hear what He has to say to each of us individually and corporately. God wants a personal love relationship with you—with us. A relationship involves a two way conversation. Prayer is a dialogue not a monologue. God is not silent. He speaks to us through His Word and in other ways. Jesus was a listener. He said “Whatever I say is what the Father has told me to say” (John 12:50). Like Jesus, we must listen. God is longing for us to pay attention. Let’s all stop and listen.
Hopefully you had the wonderful opportunity to watch the movie “War Room”. God wants us to become effective prayer intercessors and warriors to carry out His Kingdom purpose. We will be praying and study the war room strategies addressed in the movie. Days 8 though 36 will address effective prayer. Why not ask a loved one to join you on this prayer journey? Let’s all continue with one accord in prayer and supplication (Acts 1:14a) during this Lenten season.

.
Love and pray fervently,
Linda Fegins, The Prayer Leader

40 Day War Room Prayer Journey

“The War Room Journey: Praying, Listening to the Lord And Living the Life-
1 Timothy 2: 1-4; Philippines 4:6-7; Deuteronomy. 30:20; Galatians 2:20

The Lenten Season (February 10 through March 26, 2016) is a time of repentance, self-examination, fasting and prayer in preparation for Resurrection Sunday (Easter). “Renewing your sense of who you really are before God is the core of the Lenten experience” states Pastor Littlejohn. Today seek God with a repentant heart (See Joel 2: 12-24) and honestly search your heart (Psalm 139:23-24). As you pray through the 40 Days of Prayer Journey allow the Lord to examine your life thoroughly.

The first 2 days we will reflect on Repentance. The next five days we will focus on listening to the Lord. Thereafter we will pray, meditate and listen to hear from God about war room prayer strategies (Days 8 to 35) to enable us to commune with God and to grow and strengthen our prayer life and relationship with God.

CHILD PRAY 1959449_653238951414762_1351806071_n

DAY 1 – Feb 10th – Ash Wednesday the Beginning of Lent
Scriptures: Psalm 139: 23-24; 1 John 1:9; Psalm 32:5; Acts 3:19

Devotion: No one is perfect. But we all can surrender our lives to God and let Him work through us. It is important that each of us possess a clean heart. This is required as a part of God’s call for you to get right before Him for a closer relationship with Him, to enable you to do the work He has called you to do and to receive the blessings He has in store for you.

To do that you must examine yourself carefully as Pastor Littlejohn stated. You have to confess your sin and repent. You must be brave enough to say
“Lord, show me what is in my heart, soul, mind and spirit and life that shouldn’t be there. Convict me where I am missing the mark. Tear down my arrogance, pride, fear and insecurities and help me to see the truth about myself, life and my circumstances. Expose me to myself, Lord and help me to take it. Enable me to correct my ways.” Prayer by Stormie Omartian.
Now, you say the prayer above, or another for yourself.

Confess: Confess to God any sins of thoughts or actions that He shows you.
Repent: Of all the things that you have confessed.
Meditate, pray, and write down other areas for which you should repent.

Reflect on repentance and on what way you want to improve in your prayer life to deepen your relationship and friendship with God to enable you to rise in the spiritual things of God. Sit still before the Lord and listen. Let the Lord know you are listening and you are sincerely seeking His face. Psalm 42: 1-2

Pray:

• Confess the ways that you have been complacent about sin and not appalled that His Holy name is defiled.
• Confess any sin that the Spirit brings to your attention.
• Ask God to search your heart and life and to reveal to you any sin you may need to deal with.
• Repentance means to change your mind and be determined not to do the sin again. It means to turn and walk the other way and that we are sorry about our sin to the point of grief. Ask God to open your eyes, ears and heart to feel real sadness and sorrow about your sin and to turn your heart and mind to repent. Thank Him for the gift of repentance.
• Pray for God to strengthen your prayer life and deepen your relationship with Him.
.
 Something to Act On: Write your own prayer of repentance to the Lord.
