Give Thanks to the Giving God

Let’s give thanks to the giving God. “And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving and rehearse His deeds with shouts of joy and singing! Ps 107: 22

Happy Thanksgiving Family and Friends,

Brag on God with thanksgiving and Praise. What are you specifically thankful for?
Thank Him for all He has done!

Ephesians 5:20 – Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I pray that your holiday is blessed and enjoyable. While you are enjoying the turkey day and food do not let it overshadow the purpose of Thanksgiving-to express thankfulness and gratitude to God! God is a God of love and love is not  self seeking . Therefore giving thanks is not just for the benefit of God. “God wants you to give thanks because a thankful heart opens the door to more blessing in your life”!(Pastor Keith Butler)

This week each day I challenge each of us to brag on God and specifically think about, and thank the Lover of Your soul for all His blessings to you. Then open your mouth with the sacrifice of praise and Tell God and others how thankful and grateful you are.

I give you thanks, O LORD, with my whole heart; before the gods I sing your praise; 2 I bow down toward your holy temple and give thanks to your name for your steadfast love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word. Psalm 138:1-2

Here is a Prayer Of Thanksgiving by Rev Chestina Mitchell Archibald. Rev. Archibald reflected on Psalms 118:1  in writing this prayer

                                                       A Prayer of Thanksgiving

Almighty and Everlasting God,

How can I begin to thank You for Your abundant blessings? Never, could I repay the gift of life! The Blessings which flow freely from you are numerous. You  are such a generous God. Thanks for the abundant love and blessings You give. Lord, I offer my heartfelt thanks for Your gifts, both physical and spiritual. Thank You for awakening my heart and spirit to the awareness of Your presence. Lord, because of You life has meaning, and I  am filled with hope formed with purpose , and brimming with potential. In gratitude, I offer my life anew.  Amen.

Rev Chestina Mitchell Archibald.

Let’s keep our eyes open wide so we and others can see all the great blessings and things we have to be thankful for.

Remember others. If you cannot feed a hundred people, then feed just one. As we have therefore opportunity let us do good unto all men. Galatians 6:10 #feedone #helpsomebody #dogood During this Holiday Season of joy, celebration and gathering with family and friends (and really all the year) remember those grieving from lost (divorce, death, rejection, failure) and suffering from illness and depression. Remember the poor and lonely. This time of year is often depressing to some. Pray for them and then—- DO. Give a smile, a hug, an encouraging word, a touch, a donation. Feed them; give a gift, a visit, support, and resources. We are God’s ambassadors created for good works. I am so thankful. I want to tell you how extremely thankful to God for being able to connect and share with you.

With a heart filled with gratitude

Fervently pray and give thanks,
Linda “The Prayer Leader” November 2017-18

Think and Thank the Lord

This is the Season of Thankfulness. Remember to think of God’s goodness to you. We should really thank God every day for his daily benefits. This is Day 19 for the Brag on God and Season of Thankfulness series. Here are a few thanksgiving words for you to ponder.

Day 19 – Brag on God– Think thankfully. How has God been so good to you? – Thankfully count the ways and say it, TELL it, and post it below.

– O give thanks unto the Lord! Call upon His name; make known his deeds among the people! (1 Chronicle16:8-10)

Day 20 Brag on God and “Think Thankfully”. How many specific thank you’s can you give Him for all His blessings, benefits, and love? Post some of them.

I will remember the works of the Lord: surely I will remember thy wonders of old. I will meditate also of all thy work, and TALK of thy doings. Psalm 77:11-12

Day 21– Brag on God. Praise Him for His mighty works. Thank Him for everything He has done and DOES for you on a daily basis even in the midst of our mess ups.

It is good to remember that the tea kettle although up to its neck in hot water, continues to sing. (God’s Instruction Book)

Rejoice evermore… In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 1 Thessalonians 5:16, 18

Oh Think and Give Thanks to the Lord!

November is the time when we should “Think and Thank” the Lord for his many blessings. Brag on God for 30 days of thanks. Everyday give thanks. Of course we should always give thanks unto the Lord. Giving thanks is remembering what the Lord has done for you and to you , your family and the community. Praise is honoring the Lord for who He is – the Lord of Lords, the everlasting King.

We should have thankful hearts for the great things God has done in our lives.  In Psalm 107 it states:

“ O give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good: for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever”. Psalm 107:1

“And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving and rehearse His deeds with shouts of joy and singing! Ps 107: 22

Remember to give thanks unto the Lord for all that He has done. Think about His Goodness to you . He has allowed you to see another day. He has protected you from dangers seen and unseen. He has….

Begin to think and thank the Lord. Think and meditate on his loving kindness to you.  Then begin to thank Him and brag on God. Each day of the month I challenge you to share with someone what you are thankful for . You can even write it down  in a journal.

So its Day 2. Brag on God. Think and Thank. Give thanks all this month. Brag on God. Praise Him. State what you have to be thankful for and or praise Him for the mighty and loving God He is. Come on and give thanks #BragonGod #praiseGod #ThinkandThank

O give thanks unto the Lord! Call upon His name; make known his deeds among the people!(1Chronicle16:8-10) No matter what the circumstance give thanks that you have a prayer hearing God,that has unfathomable love for you! You are more than a conqueror. Thank God for that!

On Day 2 what are you thankful for ?

College Campuses Are Spiritual Battlegrounds

College years are exciting, challenging and bring new experiences and temptations to our teens and young adults. College campuses are  spiritual battlegrounds. Let’s pray strategically for our college students. We know that college students are faced with a new environment, meeting new people from various backgrounds and higher levels of learning. Many of our young adults still may be impressionable as they are faced with a new freedom many have never experienced.

As moms and dads we need to arise to pray. We want our children to further their education to enable them to enter the career of their choice and to become productive citizens. While college is a great new journey for our youth, there is a lot of temptation on college campuses. We have seen the effects of shooting on campus where parents once believed their youth would be safe.

Joyce Godsen, teaches, writes and ministers in song by ministering in churches and bars aptly summed up what is happening on college campuses:

Today’s universities are a battleground, where true faith in Christ is targeted and attacked. Students are vulnerable to many temptations from both peers and professors. 1 Peter 5:8 reminds us, “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”

In response to the real threat of persecution, many shrink back from the fight and forego the opportunity to overcome the enemy through God’s limitless power. When we recognize the opposition today’s college students face, we can ask God to give them strength to defeat the enemy and bring God’s light to dark places.(Joyce Gadsen , 2018).

As our children grow and go off to college our prayers for them are essential as they begin to face many issues. We want them to be equipped with skills and education that will prepare them to make a successful living and to live productive lives. Yet they are still subject to the issues of the world. I saw college statistics that state college students engage in binge drinking (90%), are having sex , use drugs (80%) ,and have suicidal thoughts(18%). Yes. Arise college students need prayer.

Challenge:

  1. Name your college children and relatives and the college they attend. We will pray for and with you and the students.
  2. Pray for college students and adopt a college campus for which you will pray at least 10 minutes a day or three times a week.
  3. Join with other moms and dads with college students and pray together once a week or once a month
  4. Pray with your college students. Encourage them to pray.

Here are a few good scriptures to do battle for college students away on college campuses which are spiritual battlegrounds. These can easily be adjusted for use by you, by others who love them and want to lift up strategic  intercessory prayers for college students, and the college students themselves.

Prayer Points for College Students:

1. Lord I pray that ____ and college students will stand firm and grounded in your Word and follow you their entire lives. Let nothing, philosophy and new things they learn turn them away from You.
2.. Lord for my child_____ or the student that does know you I pray that _______ will be led to salvation by the power of the Holy Ghost. I pray that an open door for the message of Christ will be proclaimed on the university and college campuses. For students who believe in You give them boldness to witness of Your love and glory. Open the hearts of students, faculty and administrators so they can respond to the message.

Spiritual Warfare:
3. Lord in the name of Jesus, shield______ and students from deceptive philosophies, humanistic theories and thoughts, and the ways of the world on college campuses (Col 2:8)
4. Father, stay the hand of the enemy and bind evil and violent spirits on the campus against stabbings, date rape, gun violence and racism. Lord my Deliverer, deliver and protect students and faculty from evil doers and enemies.

Faculty and Administration:

  1. Lord, raise up generation of godly faculty and administrators with aptitude in every field and in every kind of learning, who are quick to understand and able to teach in a negative or godless environment. (Daniel 1:4) Demolish strongholds of worldly and godless philosophies.
  2.  Lord, please give the faculty and administrator wisdom , strength and courage to be the best instructor and administrator that they can be. Lord, if they do not know you as personal Savior, I pray that they come to know you and in doing so that their instruction and work is glorifying to You. I pray this in Jesus name. Amen

Quizzes, Finals and Midterms:
7. Dear God, I pray _________learns so much. I ask that you help ______ to remember all of those things he/she had learned. Please bring them quickly to mind so that _______ or the students may successfully pass their tests . Help also his/her classmates who are studying for exams, that they might have great success. I pray for their peace as they sit for the exams and I know that peace comes only from You. I pray this in Your Son’s name, Amen.

Pray for and Vote in the 2018 State and Local Elections

It is imperative the we pray for and then vote in the 2018 local and state elections. We want to make wise decisions. However, we must pray for  our cities local elections. Yes our hope and trust is not in the election but in God. But God states in  Jeremiah 29:7-“ Seek peace and well-being for the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf; for in its peace (well-being) you will have peace”. Yes, pray and vote.  We need peace , effective social  and economic  services , a good educational system , and  to stop the violence that plagues our cities. Why should we pray for the elections? A few reasons for praying are:

  1. The Bible tells us to pray for those in authority over us and are in leadership. 1 Timothy 2: 1-2. This includes those who are seeking position in leadership.
    2. Throughout the Bible we see that when men and women of integrity were chosen by God’s standards the people and the nation fared well , were delivered out of adverse circumstances or diverted evil. “Righteousness exalts a nation..” The selection of leaders according to God’s leading and not out of racism and favoritism , can bring great blessing to a nation, city and state.

Prayer Points
• Pray for the election process- integrity, against voter suppression and racist tactics.
• Pray for honest, compassionate, and concerned  for the poor  leaders. Pray for wise leaders with integrity will arise.

• Pray for the judges of this nation, that they would seek the wisdom that comes from above.
• Pray for the salvation of local government leaders.
• Pray for the salvation of national government leaders

The local elections in our communities are just as important as the national elections. We must begin to get the foundation of our government leaders on the local and state responsive to the needs of our cities. Remember we are God’s ambassador’s and we should take righteous action to carry out His purposes in the earth for the protection of the  poor, oppressed and hurting. God is concerned about government and nations, especially as they relate to issues of justice and oppression of their own people and obeying His Word.

So pray and then get out and vote, participate and serve others.

Hallelujah! Praise the Lord!

When the believer has acknowledged God in the beauty of His holiness, the windows of heaven are opened. True worship bursts into the heart of man. Hallelujah is the primary word of worship in the Bible. Hallelujah leaps from the lips of the man or woman of prayer every time a new thought of the goodness, greatness, and majesty of God dawns upon his or her soul.

The need of this generation is for men and women who face life with their eyes fixed on the Savior. We need an army of worshipers. Our churches, communities, and countries will be transformed by men and women who have encountered the loving, eternal, holy Father. We need a generation of prayer warriors that will rearrange their priorities and see the face of God.

Loving, eternal, Holy Father, I long to worship You in spirit and in truth. One day in Your courts is better than a lifetime in the most beautiful house on earth. Ignite Your Church, Lord, so that we are filled with passion for the sake of Your kingdom! Draw Your people into Your holy presence, and fill us with words of passionate praise. Transform us by the renewing of our minds so that every generation will saturate the earth with worshipful hallelujahs!

–Adapted from The Prayer Factor by Sammy Tippit.

Prayer Points

Praise the one who came as the Prince of Peace (Isa. 9:6). Thank Jesus for giving peace to his beloved ones (Jn. 14:27). Confess those times when you’ve allowed Satan to fill your soul with unrest. Commit yourself to bearing the fruit of peace by the power of the Holy Spirit (Gal. 5:22). Ask God to guard your heart and mind today with his peace (Phil. 4:7).

Warfare, bloodshed, strife, and turmoil mar every corner of the globe these days. But the good news is that Christ came “to reconcile to himself all things . . . by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross” (Col. 1:20). Pray for all those who seek to bring Christ’s reconciliation to a restless world.

The Influence of A Praying Grandfather

What a source of joy and blessing when teen age grandchildren recognize the gift of love and prayer that a  grandfather has sown into their lives. Let It strengthens the family when a father, grandfather and men pray in the home. Oh, the great influence of a praying Grandfather.  Fervent prayers for children and grandchildren regarding their destiny and for their protection will bring forth much fruit.

Grandfather McGinnis’ Influence

Deacon Shurman McGinnis( picture below) has given his grandchildren, Shanelle and Shurman ,a solid sense of direction  by demonstrating to them  a consistent and fervent prayer life. When a father, grandfather or a parent teaches a child to pray and to make prayer a part of the foundation of their lives, they give them the ultimate gift, benefit and blessing. A praying grandfather demonstrates to his grandson or granddaughter how to go before the Lord and how to have a friendship with the Lord. He teaches the grandchild to seek the Lord  for guidance and direction  and to find strength and courage to face the circumstances they must face as youth. The Word states “When I called , you answered me: you made me bold and stouthearted”. Ps 138:3

Accordingly,  teach  your children or grandchildren to pray a prayer when they wake up in the morning,  to pray in the car on the way to school and  to allow them to pray over family situations and decisions  , that are age appropriate for ,  such as where do we go on vacation  etc.

We see the benefits of prayer in a letter Deacon McGinnis received from his granddaughter Shanelle.  His granddaughter was given a school assignment to write a letter to a wise person in her life.  She thought instantly of her grandfather. Shanell states that “When ever I ever have any questions about a scripture or if I need help finding something in the Bibe, I can always count on you to help me”.

Letters from Teen Grandchildren

She  further wrote in her letter to  “Granddaddy”  how his prayers had given her wisdom. She explained:

Dear Grandaddy,

You always tell me of how proud you are of me for praying , and singing at church. But did you ever think of my close relationship with God may be because of your prayers? Yes, I always feel God’s presence when I hear you pray. I like how you try to teach people more about God when you welcome the visitors at your church too. This makes me want to do more for God.  The Bible says in Proverbs 22:17, “Pay attention and listen to the saying of the wise: apply your heart to what we teach.” Also in Proverb 3:6 says, “In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight”. So I thank God for the things He has shown me through you. I also thank God  for  the work He has done through me. I pray that God will continue to use us because  like Proverbs 16:3 says, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do and your plans will succeed”.

So I just want to say thank you Granddaddy for your commitment to prayer. I also want to thank you for showing me different ways to show my love to God too. I love you.

Sincerely, Shanelle

Deacon’s  Shurman‘s   grandson Shurman, his namesake,  wrote to his Grandfather:

Hey Grandaddy,

I am writing this letter because I want to thank you for being a really wise and strong man in my life. You are  like the rock of our family and whenever you bring us together you always make sure we take time to pray and honor  God.

…  You have trained me to always pray. I watch how you pray before we eat and before we get on the road and anytime something good or bad happens you always pray. So I know how important it is to pray.  I also see that you pray  to Him a lot because you trust Him and even though things may not always go my way I am learning to trust God.

… Granddaddy I am so proud to carry your name and I know that if I continue to pray and  trust God that I will one day become a strong and wise man like you.

Shurman McGinnis

What a legacy Grandfather McGinnis  is creating  for his  grandchildren! It is important  to teach our grandchildren and children how to communicate and grow in relationship with God as they seek Him and His will.

Overcomer Praise God for Mondays

Praise God for Mondays. Tomorrow April 23, 2018 Monday. Look forward to it because you are an overcomer. It’s Marvelous Manifestation Monday. Thank God for Monday. You are blessed. Thank God for new opportunities, a new start,……. Embrace it. Believe and make declarations that God is working out your day and the week; that God is working in your favor and that Jesus can fix “whatever it is “ for you.

Why be depressed when Monday rolls around? Don’t focus on the negatives. Look at the positives. Look at the fact that God daily loads us up with benefits beginning with Mondays!!! You are alive. Just that is a blessing! God will work in your favor, and He is your sun and shield. Psalm 5:12 Have a new outlook on life! Keep on praying. God is working it out. Pray without ceasing. 1 Thessalonians 5:17. Speak the Word. Listen. Prayer is a dialogue. Believe. Trust.”Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. Matt.7:7

So overcomers here is a prayer for you by Tiece L. King

Overcomer!

Father, Your Word says that I am an overcomer because of the blood of the Lamb, the Lord Jesus Christ, and the word of my testimony—that in Jesus, all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and I have been given fullness in Christ and share in His authority over every spiritual power and authority! But I confess that I do not feel like an overcomer, and I often give in to the influence of this world instead of submitting to Christ.

O God, save me from myself! May I be full of Your Spirit and Your mighty power—the power of the resurrection! Teach me and use me, that I might be one who sees strongholds demolished in my life and help others to walk in freedom. Thank You, Father, that because I belong to You in Christ Jesus, You surround me with Your presence—that You are a wall of fi re around me.

You, O Lord, are my refuge and my strength. In every situation and struggle, You are with me. I will not be afraid for my trust is in Your name. Like Joshua, may I be confident that You are with me and will never leave or forsake me. By Your Spirit at work in me make me to be strong and courageous, to not be afraid or discouraged, but always mindful that You are with me wherever I go. Use me to take back ground that the enemy has stolen. Help me to be self-controlled and alert, knowing that the enemy of my soul is prowling, looking for an opportune moment.

In Jesus’ name, strengthen me to submit to You, resist the enemy, and to stand firm in my faith! Give me, I pray, Your perspective of the situations I face and may I live victoriously, as a conqueror, because of Jesus and His love for me. May I be full of faith and Your Word, for I belong to You, Lord Jesus, and You have overcome the world!

Revelation 12:11; Colossians 2:9-10; Ephesians 6:10; Philippians 3:10; 2 Corinthians 10:4; Psalm 125:2; Zechariah 2:5; Psalm 46:1-2; Psalm 20:7; Joshua 1:5, 9; 1 Peter 5:8-9; Romans 8:37; 1 John 5:4
