Trust the Lord and Seek Him.

raise up

DAY 13 – February 22nd – Trust the Lord and Seek Him
Scriptures: Psalms 31:1–8; Psalms 42:1-2,8

Miss Clara prays, “Raise up those who call upon Your Name, and love you and trust You and will seek You!”

Write down, “Lord, in Your love and authority You beckon me to call upon Your Name, thank You! Prayer is our time together in conversation that makes our relationship stronger and more intimate in my life. I love You because ____________; I trust You because____________, and I will seek You first, every day and in all circumstances.

Write down and pray all the ways that you commit to seek Him. Seek Him first thing every morning; seek Him in the good and worse of circumstances, in His creation, in crisis, in decisions and the demands of life. Pledge to seek Him first, instead of fear, worry, or selfish ambition (Ps. 31:1–8).*

Surrender. Listen. Obey. Submission.

TOP SIGN Surrender Trust.jpg

DAY 11 – February 20th – Surrender. Listen. Obey. Submission
Scriptures: Matthew 6:5–15; John 8:47

Miss Clara tells Elizabeth, “You need to plead with God to do only what He do; then you need to get out of the way and let Him do it!”

After you surrender your life to the leadership and Lordship of Jesus, you position yourself to listen and obey His commands. Submission invites God into every area of your life to both prune and protect so that we will bear much fruit to His glory. Submission wants and waits for His Kingdom to come and will be done. Submission also leaves room for God to move in the areas/relationships that we might be tempted to manipulate or mess up. Submission makes spaces for God’s wrath or healing as He sees fit. Remember from the movie what Mandy (Beth Moore) said was her “Mama’s definition of submission”? It was, “Being willing to duck so God can. . . .”

So while you are ducking, just fall on down to those knees and pray. Submit to His decisions and direction. Write down a sentence or a declaration of submission and refer to it daily. Pledge to obey, or to get out of His way, and always pray (Matt 6:5–15).*

Pray:

• Ask God to search your heart and to reveal to you any sin for which you need to seek forgiveness.
• Intercede for family members, friends and neighbors that they may began to seek to know God and have a desire to walk and talk with Him.
• Pray for Families Gen. 28:14 – For God centered relationships among family members; for families broken by divorce to be healed; that Christ’s forgiveness would occur among family members; that parents will teach their children in God’s ways of living and that families would pray together.
• Pray for the community and our city to turn from wicked ways and to seek the Lord
• Pray for those who are unemployed and those burdened by debt.

Something to Act On: Write down what you want to lay aside and to stop doing. Now write what spiritual things you want to rise toward thinking and walking in to please God and to be more like Jesus. Take time to listen.

Can you believe it? This is the Day 33 of the 40 Day Prayer Journey.Thank you for joining the 40 Day Prayer Journey. Begin right where you are and go back and start at the beginning at a later day. Answer the questions in your journal if there are any for the day and write your reflections. Meditate on the Word each day. Daily pray the prayer points for the day. Make an entry in your journal each day as lead by the Holy Spirit. Make sure you complete the “Spiritual Rise Act”. Go to the first day February 18 if you want to review the earlier statements about the purpose of this daily prayer journey to encourage each of us to rise spiritually.

• Seek the Lord for you to come to a place of being quiet before the Lord, expecting to hear what He has to speak to you.
• Pray for the grace to walk in humble obedience to His voice.
• Pray for ears to hear from the Lord through the pastor, teacher or through whatever way He has chosen to speak to and through His children.
• Pray for your relationship with a family member. Pray that the Lord will bring healing, reconciliation and restoration where it is needed.
• Pray for any relationship you may have with people who do not know the Lord. Pray for words to say that will turn their hearts to Jesus. Specifically, pray for ______ who has turned his/her heart from God.
• Pray for new hearts for ministry in all of the leaders. See Ezekiel 18:31

Spiritual Rise Check Up- Write responses in a journal or notebook

How do you think God feels when we don’t take the time to or put forth the effort to listen to Him?
 Can you think of a time when God spoke to you personally through the scriptures? By His Spirit to your spirit? Through circumstances?

Spiritual Rise Act

Learn to spend time each day quietly listening for God’s voice. Invite Him to bring thoughts to your mind from the Word or through the His Spirit. Test what you “hear” by the written Word of God.
